KOMITOMS programming provides a vibrant, unique, and proactive approach to health and wellness, supporting maximized quality of life for older adults. In these interactive, dynamic, and therapeutically-oriented music services, Board-Certified Music Therapist and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Marlon Sobol presents a multi-sensory musical approach to wellness, supporting the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of older adults.

In combination with guided music activities, KOMITOMS programming integrates cuing and verbal prompting to promote connection and learning, while supporting individual empowerment and agency in exploration and execution of the exercises.

In support of physical health domains, KOMITOMS offers interactive activities supporting fine and gross motor skill maintenance and development, increased blood flow and oxygen circulation, cardiac and respiratory stimulation and regulation, resources for pain integration and management, opportunities for strengthening core muscle groups, as well as adaptations to support diversity of need and a range of capabilities. Through the use of familiar and participant-preferred music, KOMITOMS interventions support cognitive processes for promotion and support of memory function, increased awareness of environment and awareness of self, maintenance and development of recall skills, and restoration of home environment via immersive learning experiences in music.

In addition to targeting physiological and cognitive health goals, KOMITOMS provides support for the social and emotional needs of seniors, via group and dyadic interventions and integration of interpersonal activities to support a sense of belonging, connectedness, purpose, increased self-esteem, increased socialization, and an increased sense of community. In contrast to standard programming, Keep On Moving TV integrates curated imagery and soundscapes to promote reduction in anxiety and agitation to promote a sense of relaxation and calm.

Daytime television programming often includes commercials and interruptions that contribute to confusion and disorientation in older adults. In response to this issue, KOMITOMS resources have been shown to support self-regulation and reduction in state anxiety and agitation in patients, as well as provide a proactive resource for emotional support and patient experiences of depression and isolation.

KOMITOMS can also serve as a low-cost supplement for neuropsychological, cognitive, and social behavior goals in the field of dementia, reduction in poriomania, i.e. flight and fall risks, as well as support healthy hormone regulation as a nonpharmacological alternative or supplemental treatment

From a Wellness and Prevention perspective, KOMITOMS draws on tenets of resource-oriented music therapy. KOMITOMS emphasizes the development and stimulation of client's strengths and resources. Opportunities for learning, growth, and achievement, facilitated by novel activities and skill development in music engagement, support an increase in client sense of self, sense of purpose, esteem, and potential. KOMITOMS promotes positive experiences, skill achievement, creative strategies for engagement, as nonpharmacological treatments are proving more and more relevant in senior care services. KOMITOMS interactive viewing sessions may also serve as a valuable tool for clinical assessment in related therapies, including music therapy, recreation therapy, speech/language therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
